Komatsuna, or Japanese mustard spinach, originates in Japan and belongs to the cabbage and mustard family. It is widely grown in Ibaraki Prefecture in Japan.

The leaves of Komatsuna are relatively thick and round. Because Komatsuna has a very mild flavor, it is used in a variety of dishes such as miso soup, tsukemono, stir-fry, etc.
