Seri or Japanese parsley is a spring vegetable. Dried seri has been used as a herbal medicine for centuries in Japan.
Seri is a well known herb in Japan because it is one of the seven spring herb ingredients for rice porridge, traditionally served on January 7th. It contains nutritions that help improve intestinal conditions, and prevent anemia and colds.
The refreshing smell of seri comes from its eugenol. It is said to have antibacterial and antimicrobial effects, as well as soothing effects.
